N. HOTMAN - Three Suites for Solo Viol
Nicholas Hotman was one of the leading virtuosos of the 1700's at the court of Louis XIV, and one of the most appreciated performers of his age. The records of his life are sketchy, but it appears he was born in Brussels before 1614; he died in April 1663 leaving a wife, two children, and among his effects two bass viols and two treble viols along with several lutes and theorboes.
This collection was taken from a set of three dance suites, and constitute approximately 40% of his total surviving works.
